Understand local storage, optional online features, family sharing and your data rights. The full statement below matches the current in-app statement.

1. Scope and principles
This notice describes information handling for item registration, storage management, book lookup, third-party model recognition, family sync and backups in ItemPin. “Developer” means MING FENG. “This device” means the device on which you currently use the app.
Data is primarily processed and stored on this device. The developer does not operate or commission an application server to receive or store item records, photos, recognition content or results, and does not relay model requests.
Optional features may transfer information to recipients you select or confirm. This notice is not blanket authorization for all connections, sharing or international processing. Any legally required notice or separate consent is handled for the relevant activity.
2. Information stored on this device
This device stores the item names, categories, attributes, quantities, notes, dates, locations and photos you create; submitted recognition photos, tasks, pending content and returned results; service addresses and model settings; family member identifiers, sharing scope and necessary sync records; and app preferences and local operational records.
Creating or saving records does not automatically send them to the developer. Cloud recognition, family sharing and backups you choose may transfer relevant information or create copies.
API keys you enter and choose to save are stored in this device’s system Keychain, sent to your configured endpoint only for authentication, and excluded from ordinary inventory exports. They are not sent to the developer. The developer does not collect this business data through the app for advertising, profiling, model training or data sales.
3. Online lookups, links and confirmation
Online book lookup is off by default. After reading the notice and enabling it in Me, only an explicit lookup sends the current ISBN to Open Library (openlibrary.org, an Internet Archive project). Photos, your full inventory, personal notes and locations are not included.
The recipient may still receive IP addresses, request times and app identifiers. Query records combined with other information may reveal reading interests. Turning lookup off preserves manual entry and saved book details; it does not recall data already sent.
When you open a website, it may process network details, cookies and information you submit under its own policies. Opening a link does not authorize access to your full local inventory or photo library.
Connection tests, cloud activation, material changes to recipients or authorization scope, family sharing and exports are explained before the relevant action, for your choice. Ordinary links identify their destinations. Website navigation or system permission alone does not replace any legally required consent or separate consent.
4. Third-party cloud model services
Whether to use a service, and which provider, model, endpoint or account plan to use, is entirely your choice. The developer does not steer purchases. Presets and policy links provide technical convenience and disclosure, not commercial endorsement or compliance guarantees.
Services may be free, offer free allowances, charge by usage or require subscriptions. Providers set the rules and collect any fees under their agreements with you. Whether the service is free or paid, the developer receives no commissions, rebates, referral fees, revenue shares or other direct or indirect financial benefits from your selection, configuration, calls or purchases.
Recognition requests may include submitted photos; instructions; output language; category and field definitions, including custom names; model parameters; API credentials; and necessary network data, to return item names, categories, quantities and attributes. The app does not upload your entire library or inventory. Background faces, addresses and screen text may also be processed. Review photos and ensure you have a lawful basis to provide others’ information.
Saving settings alone does not authorize uploads. A connection test uses generated test images and instructions, not item photos, but may consume allowance or incur fees.
Requests go directly from this device to the configured endpoint, and results return here. The developer does not receive, copy or retain recognition requests, photos or results through this process. This device still saves relevant content. Proxies and aggregators may forward data to upstream providers; review all recipients.
Retention, logs, human review, training, processing locations and deletion depend on the specific API, plan, privacy policy, service terms and data processing agreement. Free and paid plans, and chat products and APIs, may differ. The app makes no universal zero-retention, no-training or processing-location promises.
Turning recognition off stops future recognition requests; saved keys can also be removed. Connection tests are confirmed separately. Turning off or deleting local records does not recall sent data or delete provider copies. Exercise rights through the provider’s channels; the developer will assist to the extent legally required.
5. Family sync, backups and system services
When you establish or join a family, selected records, photos and necessary sync information are exchanged among confirmed devices through the creator’s device over the LAN. No developer cloud relay is used. Model API keys are not shared.
Leaving, removing members or dissolving a family does not erase copies already received by other devices. Share only information you have the right to provide, with trusted members.
You choose backup and export destinations. iCloud Drive or other cloud storage is governed by the selected provider’s rules. Deleting app records does not delete exported copies. Device backups, photo cloud sync and app stores may process data according to system settings and platform policies; they are not storage services operated by the developer.
Subscriptions are purchased, renewed and restored through the Apple App Store. The app requests product prices, trial eligibility and verified transaction and subscription status from Apple to determine family sync access. Apple handles payments and Apple Account information under its policies; the app does not read full payment card numbers. Family members exchange only the creator's sync access deadline or paused status, not purchase receipts, transaction identifiers or Apple Accounts. The developer does not operate a server that receives subscription receipts.
6. Permissions and security
Camera access supports photos and scanning; photo access or the system picker reads selected images; local network access connects family devices; notifications deliver configured reminders. Manage permissions in system settings. Refusal affects the corresponding features, not unrelated uses.
The app uses HTTPS for cloud recognition, the system Keychain for API keys, and identity verification and encryption for family sync. Protect your device, credentials, invitation information and backup files.
7. International processing and lawful use
Third parties may process data outside your country or region. Website language, endpoint domains or domestic/international labels do not establish the actual processing location.
Before configuration, confirm that the service may serve your location, your purpose and content comply with applicable law and provider terms, you are entitled to upload others’, employer or client information, and any conditions for international transfers, sensitive information or children’s data are satisfied. If you cannot confirm this, pause uploads and use local features.
Your choice does not waive the developer’s or provider’s statutory responsibilities. Required notice, separate consent, security safeguards and international transfer measures cannot simply be shifted to you or replaced by checking a box. This notice does not guarantee that a service is lawful in every country or region.
8. Retention, deletion and your rights
Local records are retained according to your use and management. Pending tasks, sync logs, deletion markers and recovery backups may remain where needed for sync or recovery. Deleting a visible record does not necessarily erase all history or copies immediately.
Providers, family devices, exports and system backups have separate deletion mechanisms. Removing a key from this app does not close the provider account or revoke the key at the provider.
Subject to applicable law and conditions, you may have rights to information, access, copies, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent and complaints to the relevant authority. Manage local data in the app or contact feedback@mingfeng.com. The developer cannot directly access or remotely delete data it does not hold, but will explain available options and provide required assistance within statutory time limits. Only necessary information will be requested to verify a request. Exercising rights will not result in unreasonable discrimination.
9. Children and sensitive information
Item management ordinarily does not require identity documents, financial accounts, biometric data or unrelated sensitive information. Children’s use must meet applicable law and provider age rules, including valid guardian consent where required. Guardian consent does not override a provider’s age restrictions. Where special protection is legally required, the relevant procedures apply instead of general feature authorization.
10. Contacting the developer
If you voluntarily email the developer, we may receive your address, message and attachments to respond, handle requests or meet legal obligations. Email providers may process and retain these communications. Voluntary correspondence is distinct from automatic uploads of app data. Do not send API keys, full inventories or unrelated personal information. Photos or recognition results you voluntarily send become part of the correspondence.
Communications are kept only as long as needed to handle the matter, then deleted or anonymized unless law requires further retention. For processing legally attributable to the developer, the applicable basis depends on the activity, such as providing requested support, valid consent or a legal obligation.
11. Updates and contact
We update this notice and provide legally required information when processing changes. Where renewed consent is required, continued use alone will not count as consent. This notice does not limit your statutory rights or exclude responsibilities that cannot lawfully be waived.
